Pizzas Around the World
We can always agree to one certain thing, that pizzas are undeniably gifts from the past and its history. The word pizza, which comes from the word pita, means 'pie.' The below list is by no means exhaustive. It's just meant to drop a little knowledge on you about some of the more popular permutations found in different regions of the world. While 3 billion of these pizzas are sold in America, there’s still a lot of pizza being sold throughout the rest of the world. The toppings and history behind many of the countries give us a glimpse into that particular country.
Here are some unique pizzas from around the world.
Pizza Margherita
Sometimes you just can’t beat fresh, simple, and classic Margherita Pizza. Pizza Margherita is a typical Neapolitan pizza, made with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, salt, and extra-virgin olive oil. Traditionally, it is made with fior di latte rather than buffalo mozzarella.
Okonomiyaki Pizza
Bring together favorite Japanese and Italian street foods with this delicious okonomiyaki pizza recipe. Exactly as it sounds, this dish consists of all your favorite okonomiyaki fillings and toppings (cabbage, onion, bacon, bonito flakes, okonomiyaki sauce, etc.) on a crunchy pizza base. If you are an okonomiyaki fan, this variation is a must-try.

Pizza Bianca
In Italy, Pizza Bianca means “white pizza”, which is a Pizza drizzled with olive oil and salt and of course no Tomato Sauce. Sometimes topped with Mozzarella or Parmesan Cheese. Some people like to top their White Pizza's with roasted veggies, seafood or even greens.
Chicago-style Pizza
Chicago-style pizza is pizza prepared according to several different styles developed in Chicago. The most famous is deep-dish pizza. The pan in which it is baked gives the pizza its characteristically high edge which provides ample space for large amounts of cheese and a chunky tomato sauce.
Langos Pizza
Langos is Hungarian fried bread, sometimes called Hungarian pizza. It is a favorite street and fair food that has a yeast dough made with mashed potatoes and flour. This snack became part of the country's cuisine centuries ago when it was introduced by the Turks during their occupation.
Neapolitan Pizza
Neapolitan Pizza, or pizza Napoletana, is a type of pizza that originated in Naples, Italy. This style of pizza is prepared with simple and fresh ingredients: a basic dough, raw tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and olive oil. No fancy toppings are allowed! One of its defining characteristics is that there is often more sauce than cheese. This leaves the middle of the pie wet or soggy and not conducive to being served by the slice.
New York-style Pizza
New York-style pizza is pizza made with a characteristically large hand-tossed thin crust, often sold in wide slices to go. The crust is thick and crisp only along its edge, yet soft, thin, and pliable enough beneath its toppings to be folded in half to eat. Traditional toppings are simply tomato sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese
